2025

ChamPami Book Club

A 4x winner!

The goal for this year is to build on the previous success of the Outdoor Library and its events. The primary structure of the Outdoor Library is in place and the group has had great success in the events that they have hosted thus far. The focus moving forward is two-fold: (1) maintain the beauty and quality of the library and (2) provide worthwhile events to the community. Specifically, they would like assistance to help in the upkeep of the library landscaping and to continue to provide more events for people of all ages to gather, share books, discuss ideas and learn from each other.

Bunco Club

A 2x winner!

They plan to host a semi-annual bunco fundraiser in 2026 to bring Weatherby Lake residents together in a welcoming and inclusive environment to have fun, meet and mingle, play bunco and give back to the community. This grant will help to lower registration costs, increase attendance, supplement expenses and enhance the overall experience.

Community Activities

A 2x winner!

The Community Activities Club hosts events for the community to engage with their Weatherby Lake neighbors. These events include Trunk-Or-Treat, the Easter Egg Hunt, BBQ competition and many other activities. With this grant they intend on expanding the current events and adding additional ones throughout the year.

Dog Paw-Rade

A first time winner!

This grant will allow for a community building event geared toward the many dog lovers at Weatherby Lake. The vision is a pet-friendly walk that starts and ends at Christhaven Park. Wayside Waifs will be on site with information and adoptable puppies for cuddling.

Fishing Club

Another 4x winner!

Their goal is to get kids and their families involved in the lake and helping kids in Missouri get involved in fishing. The grant will help put on the annual fishing clinic and also allow them to collect and refurbish used rods that will be donated to the Missouri Conservation Department for kids throughout the state.

Women of Weatherby

Another first time winner!

WOW provides a dinner for all residents of Weatherby Lake at C-Point around the 4th of July. The grant will be used to provide music for dancing and a balloon clown.

2024

ChamPami Book Club

A 3x winner!

This group has worked very hard the past two years with previous grant funding, and the results are evident. They went from a piece of lawn at King Park, to a thriving park and library are for residents to enjoy. They can enjoy on their own time, and the club has also developed a cadence of events in the spring/summer months bringing in authors to share their books. They have had a tremendous impact on the community with these events. We are please to grant their application this year to ensure they can continue the author events at the park, that kids and kids at heart have grown to look forward to already!

Bunco Club

First time recipient.

This group applied to help support a new endeavor they tested this past fall, and was received with flying colors. They want to bring the community together two times per year with ladies Bunco Bashes. Not only will these two times per year serve as a community touch point for 60+ women per event, the club also hopes to inspire other residents to begin a bunco club in their little section of Weatherby Lake. There are currently two active clubs that meet monthly. Another huge part of this application was the fact that all proceeds of each bunco bash will be donated back into our community – for instance, this past September’s proceeds will go to The Walleye Fund.

Community Activities

A 2x winner!

What a thrill to be able to help this organization! Knowing the things they have always planned in the past running only on donations, to new things such as the 1^st Annual BBQ contest this past year – which was a 200+ in attendance success – and more new things on the horizon, we are beyond thrilled to help in these extremely high impact events here at home! In reading some of the additional new things they have in mind, we will be waiting in anticipation to attend!

Fishing Club

Another 3x winner!

As we all know, the fishing club has been thriving for many years now, thanks to Hank and a slew of other volunteers to keep it going! A big hit each year is the Kids fishing clinic held in June of each year, and this past year was enjoyed by at least 200 kids, as well as many parent and grandparents. We are so happy to support this clinic again for next year. Hank and team, as always, we can’t thank you enough! Congratulations!!

Movie Night

Another first time recipient!

First of all, thanks to Joe, who has already held several community movie nights in the past….but with all of his own equipment! Joe has asked in his grant for a bundle of equipment that would make for an effective movie night (better sound, larger screen, etc). These can be held outdoors in the summer…at the beach, or at a park. Assume even indoors in the winter months. He also envisions other clubs here at the lake can also borrow this equipment for any events that they could utilize it at. A true win-win for the community.

Community Activities Club

The Community Activities Club hosts events for the community to engage with their Weatherby Lake neighbors. These events include Trunk-Or-Treat, the Easter Egg Hunt and many other activities. They plan to add additional events such as a BBQ competition and ice cream social at the Park Board Concert nights.

ChamPami Book Club

The goal for this year is to build on the previous success of the Outdoor Library by creating a series of events that feature local authors or speakers, and provide additional opportunities for the community to gather, share books, debate ideas, and learn from each other. They also hope to engage emerging leaders in the community, youth and adults, who could help facilitate and implement these ongoing events.

The ChamPami Outdoor Library opened in July 2023, and they have already seen it serve a wide variety of citizens within the community. Children and adults are able to borrow from and donate to the library with its revolving supply of books. The goal is that events held at the Library would appeal to a wide range of community members.

ChamPami Book Club

The goal of the ChamPami Book Club is to install a little free library, tree, and corresponding features in the Spring of 2023, so that the completed Outdoor Library can be enjoyed by all residents before the start of the best season at the lake – Summertime!

They see this project as having the potential to grow in the future in many ways. Some possibilities include the addition of other library locations, creating a neighborhood children’s book club, and providing leadership opportunities for youth in the community who want to take a role in maintaining the Outdoor Libraries by managing the supply of books as well as beautifying the area around the library with flowers or other plantings. They believe there is a real opportunity for these places to foster community engagement and strengthen leadership skills as the residents use the Outdoor Libraries for service projects and to create their own book and discussion clubs.

Fishing Club

Every year, the Fishing Club holds a Weatherby Lake Kids Fishing Clinic at the C-Point Pavilion. We started this event many, many years ago to help kids in the community get involved and enjoy the sport of fishing on our lake. With this grant, we hope to help offset costs for the 2023 Clinic.

Participation averages 70 kids – from 2 years old to 16 years old – each year. We supply new rods and reels to all the kids along with tackle and baits for fishing.

We have volunteer instructors along with parents, grandparents, and friends giving lessons on casting, retrieving, and fishing techniques. Most every kid involved catches and releases fish during our clinic.

We usually have the Clinic on a Saturday during the Month of June. Cost of this event is sponsored solely by the Weatherby Lake Fishing Club. Costs average around $1,200 per year.
